Gloria Eleanor Alice Wilson

October 23, 1977 - November 18, 2018

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Eleanor Alice Wilson-Anderson on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Drumheller Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Kelly, Gloria is also survived by her parents Jim and Toni Wilson, brother Derrick, sister Loretta, her nephews Dalan and Kasen and niece Avril. She will be sadly missed by her in-laws, Bob and Linda Anderson, sister-in-law Charlene (Del) Thue, Dane and Cala, brothers-in-law Al (Karen) Anderson, Samantha and Steven, John Anderson, and Scott (Stacey) Anderson, Adley. She was predeceased by her grandparents Arnold and Alice Wilson and Jim and Eleanor Gaschnitz.
Gloria was born at the Drumheller Hospital on October 23, 1977 and grew up on the family farm in the Verdant Valley district. She attended Verdant Valley School and graduated from Drumheller Composite High School in 1995. Gloria received the Monsanto Environmental Award. She went on to Olds College graduating in 1997 with a Diploma in Land Resource Management. She was awarded the Olds College Alumni Good Samaritan Award. Gloria worked for the Red Deer Greyhound Depot for 5 years as a ticket and freight agent, and then for Red Deer County for 3 years. Farming and ranching was her passion and she decided to return to home to help run the family farm. She loved her cows and calves and could identify each one in the pasture a mile away. It took several hours for her to do a cow check as each one needed to be scratched and loved. Kelly and Gloria enjoyed their many adventurous road trips together bringing smiles to those happy memories. They has some hilarious experiences and met some very interesting people along the way. Whether it be grain farming together or ranching there was never a dull moment.
Gloria's passion for life eclipsed her medical needs and caregiver concerns. During trying times and great adversity Gloria would break out of the hospital to travel, go to concerts and shows even at the expressed concerns of her doctors wishes. Gloria's lesson to all of us is to make the time for life passions even when the most serious odds are stacked against you. A true testament to Gloria's spirit of love and grace.
Gloria had a heart of gold filled with love and compassion for all around her. She was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, auntie and friend. A natural caregiver to hospital patients she would meet while being a patient herself.
Thank you Dr. L. Olfert, Dr. Walley Temple, and Dr. E. Racz - your expertise and exceptional care will never be forgotten. Thank you to Dr. Mateer, the nursing staff, Home Care and Lab Technicians at the Drumheller Hospital. We are truly blesses to have you as our caregivers. To Wilma Giesbrecht and Gloria's special friends thank you for being there when she needed you the most. To our wonderful extended family, friends and Verdant Valley neighbours - your prayers, phone calls, texts, acts of kindness gave us strength to face each challenge.
