PUGH
Theresa Lynn

June 29, 1969 - May 22, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dearest Daughter, Sister, and Aunt, Theresa Lynn Pugh on May 22, 2020.
Theresa was born on June 29, 1969 in Drumheller, Alberta to the proud parents Norman and MaryAnne Pugh. She was raised on the family ranch in Dorothy, Alberta. Theresa attended Homestead Coulee School till grade 9 when she then moved to Drumheller to finish her education. It was at this time that her sense of adventure flourished, she embraced the bright lights of the city and countless lifelong friends.
Theresa’s passions in life were her fur babies Rooter and T-Bone, spending time with her friends and sitting around a campfire telling jokes and making friends laugh.

Her Journey’s Just Begun

Don’t think of her as gone away
her journey’s just begun.
Life holds so many facets,
this earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and no years.

Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today,
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched.
For nothing loved is ever lost,
and she was loved so much.

Theresa leaves to mourn, her loving parents Norman and MaryAnne Pugh, sister Tina (Craig) Comstock, sister Tammy Pugh, nephews Jordan (Katelynn), Nathan Comstock, niece Pooky (aka Christina Pugh) (Rory), and her fur babies Rooter and T-Bone.
In honour of Theresa’s wishes, we would encourage her friends to get together reminisce and raise their glasses one last time for T.
A private family Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

WILSON
Eleanor F.A. (Toni)

December 28, 1948 - May 30, 2020

With sadness we announce that Eleanor F. A. Wilson (Toni) passed away peacefully at her home with her family and Captains Ben and Isobel Lippers by her side on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at the age of 71 from a long battle with cancer.
Toni was born in Drumheller to James and Eleanor Gaschnitz on December 28, 1948 and was raised on their farm in Verdant Valley. Her family was very musical and her love for music was seen throughout her life.
Toni married Jim Wilson on March 23, 1968. They did not find love from far away as their farm families only lived down the road from each other. They began their life together living in Cambria, soon moving to the farm where their business and family grew, having three children:
Derrick, Loretta, and Gloria.
Its tough to narrow down Toni’s accomplishments. She graduated from the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music. Throughout her life she taught many students piano lessons in her home. She was a volunteer and member of the Women of Unifarm, Verdant Valley Home and School Association, 4-H Leader for the Verdant Valley Snipettes Sewing Club, Secretary/Treasurer of the Verdant Valley Agricultural Society, Treasurer of the Homestead Museum Society and Secretary Treasurer of the Big Country Antique Museum Company. Toni spent countless hours contributing to these organizations.
Toni started playing for church at the Salvation Army and after some years she moved to the Knox United Church to play the pipe organ. Over 28 plus years she played for countless church services, weddings, and funerals, learning special music as requested. This past Christmas she found the energy to play for the Salvation Army Christmas Service, which was the last time that she played.
Diving into every aspect of the farm and community kept her busy while being a wife and mother of 3 kids. On the farm Toni operated combines, grain trucks, tractors, lawn equipment and more. She gardened and took care of her animals which included dogs, cats, goats, horses, and her beloved donkeys. When the farm diversified into cows, she took great pride and care for the cows and calves and
enjoyed the evening shift where she could check cows and look at the constellations of stars.
Toni was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, friend, and community member. She had an infectious laugh and a sense of humour. Each grandchild (Dalan, Avril and Kasen) spent many hours with her learning her ways of doing things right.
Toni was predeceased by her father Jim Gaschnitz, mother Eleanor Gaschnitz, father in law Arnold Wilson, mother in law Alice Wilson and daughter Gloria Wilson Anderson.
She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 52 years Jim Wilson, son Derrick Wilson, grandson Dalan Wilson, granddaughter Avril Wilson, daughter Loretta Wilson, grandson Kasen Wilson, uncle Ken and aunt Phylis Chambers, and numerous cousins, in-laws, and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Homestead Museum Society, Box 3154, Drumheller, AB, T0J 0Y0.
The family wishes to thank all the attending physicians, nurses, palliative care team, homecare, The Tom Baker Cancer Centre, The Drumheller Cancer Centre, the Duncalf family and everyone who has supported her through this journey. Due to Covid 19, arrangements are currently unknown. We plan to try to have a Celebration of Life when we feel the restrictions on numbers is in our favour.

Richard Thomas Campbell
October 3, 1939 - April 16, 2020

Richard was born on October 4th, 1939 in Drumheller, Alberta and was called Home to be with his Lord on April 16th, 2020 at the age of 80 years.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joanie; four children, Cameron (Katie), Sherry, Misty and Jolene; six grandchildren, Darcy, Celena, Jimmy, Jessie, Tyler and Clay; one brother, Irwin (Anne); and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sonny and Jack; and one son-in-law, Dale.
Richard and his family moved to Vernon in 1972 and for a short period of time he worked in Kelowna. This meant travelling back and forth and in true “Richard style,” the way he chose to commute was by boat on Okanagan Lake because of his love for the water, rather than by car on the highway. He also enjoyed spending many summers with family at Mara Lake and was particularly fond of taking trips to the forest with Reg and his grandchildren where they gathered fuel for his wood stove.
Richard loved hockey and was still playing the game until he was 77 years of age.
Richard loved to hear Elvis Presley sing gospel music but his favourite artists were Johnny Cash and Roy Clark and he never grew tired of hearing them sing and play their guitars. Richard worked for many years surveying most of the roads in Central Alberta, engineering buildings in downtown Calgary and having a large part in the engineering and building of the Rogers Pass snow sheds. He was a self taught “fix it man” and enjoyed a challenge when it came to repairing things that others would rather just simply discard. His motto was “If something you have is in need of fixing, just give it to me!” Richard was the most selfless man and would do anything for anyone, always sharing a kind word or joke as he lent a helping hand. His soul mate Joanie will forever miss the love and tenderness that they shared together for 60 years.
In respecting Richard’s wishes he was cremated and there will be no service held. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Richard to the Hamlets at Vernon, 3050-29th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 9Y9.

Cremation arrangements were made with Bethel Funeral Chapel Ltd., 5605-27th Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 8Z5,

ALMADI
Irvine Steve

April 23, 1934 - June 14, 2020

Irv Almadi passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020 with family by his side, he was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. Irv was a family man with numerous interests. His career took him to many locations, but his heart remained in his hometown East Coulee, Alberta. Irv’s father, Joseph Almadi, left Hungary in 1928 to settle in the Coulee where he worked as a coal miner. It took him 5 years to earn the money to bring his wife Margaret and daughter Helen to join him. Irvine was born in Drumheller April 23, 1934.
Listening to Irv share stories of East Coulee was captivating for those lucky enough to hear them. They carried with them, the humour of a time when kids were free to roam the town and the hills. Irv’s stories would have entertained
W.O. Mitchell. In 1953, Irv and his Coulee friends, Julius Bodor, Ed Bennett and Joe Fulop set out to attend
Oklahoma University. Irv met Luther Cunningham a quintessential Texan who remained his kindred spirit to the end. Graduating in 1956 with his Petroleum Engineering degree he joined APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta). It was an apple core tossed by Laura at the handsome lad at Mount Royal College that led to their marriage in 1958 and a 62 year love affair. Irv was proud of his two daughters Karen, a lawyer, and Kimberly, a science teacher. Irv’s career was an adventure that took him from Virden, Manitoba, to Fort Saint John, BC where he met Bill Hunka (Evelyn); this friendship resulted in Irv and Laura following the Hunka’s to Port Dover, Ontario where Irv worked on an offshore drilling platform on Lake Erie. In 1963 Irv joined TransCanada PipeLine where he spent 16 years becoming Manager of Operations, Alberta Supply. It was there that he met his dear friends Fez Qureshi (Pat) and Moe Thomas (Donna). TCPL was a combination of work and play. Monthly trips to Toronto had a way of conveniently coinciding with CFL games. Irv also travelled to Copenhagen, Denmark to consult with the Danish government as they were developing, their oil and gas holding in the North Sea. In 1979, Irv’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to leave TCPL. He established Almadi Resource Consultants Ltd. which was active until he retired in 1998. The day Irv and Laura moved into their new home in 1967, their first visitor that winter was a bare-footed, army coat wearing teenager - Beth Hetherington (Kyla, Danauca, Kathy, Cameron and Isabelle). Our families have been intertwined since. In 1970, Irv returned to his home town of East Coulee with Kimberly. Sitting on the bank of the Red Deer River, Kim commented on how quiet it was, to which Irv replied, “It’s the end of the Earth”. Irv and Laura bought a run-down, weed infested property where Irv envisioned our cottage “WrenDee”. The Hunka’s purple school bus became home for a couple years as Irv and Laura built the cabin. The Coulee kept Irv busy in numerous ways. Locals enjoyed coming by to share time out on the deck with Mr. A – Monica Schwarz, the Stols, Lanzer, Izzy, Janet Grabner, the Stewarts, the Gerlingers and Bob Ellaby to name a few. Irv is survived by his wife Laura, daughters Karen (Lori) and Kim (Reta), his “son” Ken Cameron, and his niece Julia Whyte and nephew Dr. Gregory Whyte. He was
predeceased by his parents – Joseph (1982) and Margaret (2004), his baby brother Frank (1927), and his beloved
sister Helen (2009). A Celebration of Life will be held in East Coulee in August. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the East Coulee School Museum at https://ecsmuseum.ca/790-2/ or mail to PO BOX 514, East Coulee, AB Canada T0J 1B0. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.net.

KAISER
Kooter
(Kimberly Helen)

September 6, 1980 - June 24, 2020

Kooter was born September 6, 1980, and left us June 24, 2020. She lived most of her life in the hills north of Hussar.
Kooter can definitely be described as a character. She made an impression wherever she roamed. Kooter was vibrant, magnetic, opinionated, fun, humorous, deep, loyal and helpful. She was capable, willing to try new things, traditional, generous and an original thinker. She played by her own rules, and definitely did it her way.
Kooter was a country kid and loved the beauty and openness that surrounded her. She was adept with cows and loved spending time with her children tending them. She would see an opportunity, and blast through obstacles to bring it to fruition. She was passionate about the land and spent hours learning about and studying its intricacies. She was an early adopter, she loved new ideas and better ways of doing things. Kooter loved music, her dogs, great food, and coffee. Her friends enjoyed thoughtful advice, an ear that would listen and understand, many deep-bring tears to your eyes-belly laughs, and a genuine willingness to contribute however she could. She thought win-win, and had a steel trap of a memory.
Kooter’s career was in the agricultural realm. She worked at a feed lot, auction mart, as a hired hand, was an auctioneer, as a grain farmer with Craig, as a rancher,
equipment dealer, trade show expert, importer and consultant for her own business,-7-Quality Ranch Supply and finally as a territory (BC to Manitoba) representative for RIO Nutrition. She could identify a niche and jump right in. She used each stepping stone to learn more and grow her skills. She always proved capable given the opportunity. She was a big picture thinker and saw potential where others saw problems. Kooter met many incredible people with her work, and she grew these chance encounters into deep friendships.
By far, the biggest blessing in Kooter’s life, in her opinion, was her three children. She described them like this: Belva is the mashed potatoes I could not live without, Jack is the meat that sustains me and Mavie is the gravy, that makes the meal complete.
She is survived by her children, Belva, Jack and Mavie, her sister Kailee (Dallas) Dundas, nieces and nephew Lena, Ellis and Corbin Dundas, mother Karen Treacy, father Keith Klemmensen, grandmother Elaine Klemmensen, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Kooter was predeceased by her husband Craig Kaiser, brother Kody Klemmensen, and grandparents Jack and Frances Treacy and Arthur Klemmensen.
Kooter endured more than her fair share of heartache. Luckily, she also sampled the very best life has to offer.
A private Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 2:00 P.M., which will be livestreamed via the Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Home website.
Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.

Dr. David Dunlop Miller died comfortably at home July 10, 2020 afternoon with family beside him. Born September 11, 1924 the only child of George and Margaret “Johnny” Miller.
Predeceased by his wife of 28 years Bryda (Egan) in 1977 and mother of his children, Fiona (Gary) Crow, Douglas, Ailsa (Paul) Brereton, Ian (Della) and Alec. Our father made his wishes very clear that he wanted to die at his home beside the Red Deer River. Mary, helped by family, homecare staff including Ula and Gord, made it happen, and for that he and his children have been very grateful.
Dad was born in Birmingham but always emphasized his Scottish ancestry. Dad was schooled at Wycliffe in Wales where he made life-long friends. He studied medicine, his much-loved profession, at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. He served as a Royal Marine in various places, eventually
settling into family practice in Woodford Green, UK. In 1966 they decided to emigrate to Canada with the family.
Settling in Drumheller he practiced medicine there from late 1966 until his retirement in 2013. In all stages of his life he made and kept contact with his many friends and the Miller, Egan and Horrigan families.
The Drumheller Mail published a warm story that fills in some gaps. You can read it here.
The family will gather for a small service at St. Anthony’s in Drumheller but due to COVID 19, a much-deserved memorial service cannot be planned at present.
Family gratefully decline flowers, and if desired please donate to Doctors Without Borders Canada, Red Cross or L’Arche Canada.

During his final year of courses, Eli became president of the International Society of Automation SAIT Student Section which allowed him to utilize his natural ability as a mentor and leader. It was also during his time at SAIT that he met the love of his life, Marrisa. After graduation, he moved to Fort St. John, BC to start his career in instrumentation alongside Marrisa, where they gained several years of experience in their field before transferring back to Alberta and settling in Standard. He inherited a love of motorcycles and all things mechanical from his father Ron and was always willing to teach and pass on his knowledge or offer assistance when it came to
maintenance of the family vehicles. Eli was a kind, generous person who never hesitated to offer a helping hand to those he cared about. He was loved deeply by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on August 9, 2020 at the Severn Dam. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca.

RICHARDSON
Marie Martha

February 13, 1943 - July 27, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we said goodbye to our beloved Mom, Marie Martha Richardson, of Drumheller. The four of us were with Mom when she took her last breath, passing away peacefully on July 27, 2020, just after 10 p.m. Mom was 77 years of age.
Mom was born February 13, 1943, in Brandon, Manitoba, to Laddie & Mary Marcin of Kemnay, Manitoba. She attended primary schooling in Kemnay at a Catholic Nun’s school; Mom often spoke of the “whacks across the knuckles” with yardsticks or rulers from the Nuns when she would try to use her left-hand while being forced to become right-handed. Because of this, Mom became fluent both left & right-handed, but, she also developed a talent of being able to write backwards. If you held her backwards writing up to a mirror, you could read what she wrote, perfectly.
After she left school, Mom worked at the Hamilton, Hunt Law Office in Brandon as a paralegal. Shortly after, she met the love of her life, Tom Richardson. They were married on August 31, 1963, and had 4 girls – Sherry, Lisa, Tracy & Patti. The family relocated to Govan, Saskatchewan, where Dad & Mom took over the Imperial Oil Bulk Station. It was the work with Imperial Oil/Esso that eventually saw the family once again relocate in the mid-1970’s, this time further west to Drumheller, Alberta. Mom’s 4’ 11 ¾” stature could often be seen slinging cases of oil while wearing high heels. Dad & Mom eventually left Esso, and formed Richardson’s Bulk Sales – an oilfield hauling business. After they sold the business, Mom went to work at the Legion in Drumheller. Following that, Mom worked at the Drumheller Mail, but eventually went back to work with Richardson’s Bulk Sales until she was forced to retire in 2016 due to the onset of Dementia.
Even though Dad & Mom were divorced in the early 1990’s, they became and remained friends through to their end. They loved to attend functions and events, and parties – Mom loved to get dolled up and wear pretty dresses and high heels. They enjoyed a close-knit social circle and could often be found at a neighbor’s home or hosting neighbors.
Dad & Mom loved to take the family camping. They also attended many Bingos and casino trips together, and enjoyed their travels to Las Vegas over the years. After Dad’s passing, Mom would often ask us girls to “take [me] to the office”….which was code for a Casino trip. Mom also had opportunities to experience travel to the Barbados, Mexico & Hawaii which was perfect as she loved to worship the sun.
In late 2016, Mom went to reside in the Continuing Care Unit in Drumheller. But, she was excited when she was able to move from there to the Hillview Manor in 2019, giving her freedom to enjoy more aspects of her life. Mom took ill in early/mid-July, and was moved to the Red Deer Hospital where she passed away from a number of health issues.
Mom is survived by her 4 daughters: Sherry (Jim) of Fairmont Hot Springs, BC; Lisa of Drumheller; Tracy of Drumheller; and Patti (Ted) also of Drumheller. Mom is also survived by her 8 grandchildren - Jasmine, Jordan (Mathew), Brandon (Megan), Mitchell, Brett (Brittney), Nikki, Steffanie (Scott), and Savanna; and her 9 1/2 great-grandchildren - Riley, Zoe, Alexis, Bennett, Quinn, Annabelle, Jack, Summer, Dominic, and “baby Peanut”. Mom loved every minute she spent with family, but had a great love for her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She was famous for her cabbage rolls and meatballs, and could often be found stocking the freezers of her grandkids.
Mom is also survived by her sister, Margaret (Cecil) of Kemnay, brother Alec (Ann) of Brandon, and numerous nephews and nieces, and their families.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Laddie & Mary, brother Stan, and ex-husband Tom.
A private family funeral service will be held.
Those who wish to make a donation in Mom’s name, may do so to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
