BRACKLEY
Mary Lynn

January 4, 1952 - October 12, 2019

On Saturday, October 12, 2019, Mary Lynn Brackley loving mother of two children passed away in St. Albert, Alberta at the age of 67.
Mary Lynn was born January 4, 1952 in Drumheller, Alberta to Winston and Jennie DeMille. In 1972 she met and married her husband David Henry Brackley in Lethbridge, AB. They raised two sons Colin and Todd.
Mary Lynn had a passion for all sports. She bragged about Carter her eldest grandson on winning the Provincial title for basketball, and her love of the Blue Jays and Raptors goes without saying; cheered both on in the best and worst of years and we can still picture her yelling at the TV as if the players could hear her. She was an avid music lover, one of her joys to listen to was her Elvis music and other old time Rock and Roll and Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison on those early Sunday mornings to wake us kids up whether we liked it or not. I don’t think she missed out on a concert that came to town; from Carrie Underwood to George Strait one of her favorites! She would never miss one of her grandkid’s hockey games no matter the weather, it might have been the fries and gravy of which was her favorite. She was known for her quick wit and her passion for her kids and of course grandkids.
Mary Lynn was predeceased in death by her husband, David, her father, Winston, and her mother, Jennie. She is survived by her two children, Colin and Todd, her five grandchildren, Carter, Mason, Mackenzie, Ryllan and Mollie, and several cousins, her three brothers; Randy, Daryl, Kevin and their spouses, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Mary Lynn will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Morrin Community Hall, Morrin, Alberta. The family invites everyone to stay for a time of fellowship and light refreshment following the service.
If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute.
Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.

He enjoyed spending time camping, visiting Nova Scotia, and the many lobster boils in the gazebo. In August of 1995, Joe had major heart issues and required triple bypass surgery. FANDRY
Leroy Edward

June 25, 1937 -
November 18, 2019

With family by his side, Leroy peacefully passed away in Strathmore Hospital on Monday, November 18, 2019. He is predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Ella Fandry; Darlene’s parents, Jimmy and Margaret Treacy; and Brothers-in- Law Bill Treacy and Rex Green.
Leroy was born June 25, 1937 in Bassano, Alberta and was raised on his family farm near Hussar with his parents and sister Lila (Green). In 1960 at the age of 22 he married Darlene (Treacy) and built his own home, it was here that he and his family celebrated a “Century Farming Award” in 2017 and he and Darlene were planning their 60th Wedding Anniversary for January. He was thankful to live in his own home until his passing.
Leroy and Darlene have five children, Craig, Steven (Janice), Shane (Carla), Russell (Kristin) and Monica (Scott); eleven grandchildren, Erin (Garry), Andrew, Megan, Trent (Amy), Ellen, Laura, Jordan, Brooke, Garrett, Justine and Kirk; and three great-grandchildren, Spencer, Olivia, and Maddison. He was supportive of his family’s activities and proud to be part of the Hussar community.
Leroy rode bike or walked railway to Chancellor and Standard school and later attended Agriculture Mechanics at “Tech” (SAIT) in Calgary. All his life he had an insatiable appetite for learning, understanding, memorizing and sharing knowledge, especially about topics that weren’t conventional.
Leroy worked hard as a farmer and rancher his entire life. He enjoyed working with his cattle and spending time with his dogs. His determination and work ethic afforded his family the opportunities of education, sports, clubs, vacations and a family farm to continue for generations to come.
He was generous with his time and hospitality- often striking up lively conversations with complete strangers. He loved company at his home; you always knew you were loved as his actions spoke stronger than words. He couldn’t wait to greet you or bear to see you leave.
He thought he was his own doctor knowing his health best, but he finally found Peace as he just couldn’t “fix up” his tired body. Leroy was fortunate to be surrounded by family and see so many dear friends in Strathmore Hospital in the three weeks before his passing. The devotion and encouragement received by Pastor Dan and Dr. Fanning was immeasurable in his final days.
Although he wasn’t a model patient, the constant, gentle, professional care by the Nurses and staff will never be
forgotten.
A funeral service was held on Monday, November 25th at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hussar at 2:00 p.m. with overflow and live stream in Hussar Community Hall where lunch followed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Wheatland and Area Hospice Society (Box 2154, Strathmore, AB, T1P 1K2) or Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hussar.

Alex and Rena started their family in 1956 raising two daughters, Diane and Sandra. He continued to farm until he retired at 49. They then moved to Drumheller but he was able to continue his love of farming by helping his daughter, Sandra, and son-in-law, Bob, on their family farm for many years. He was able to pass on his passion and knowledge of farming to his grandson, Alex, as well. He was so proud to have 3 generations working together on the land that he still owns today.
Alex was known for his infectious laugh that could be heard wherever he went. Whether he was volunteering for many years with the Drumheller Lions or telling stories at McDonald’s coffee, Alex will be remembered for his jovial personality and life sized heart. Alex always made time to talk to people. He loved to reminisce about the good ol’ days and would often be sharing about the days on the farm or talking anything cars. He loved vehicles, driving them, talking about them, and buying them.
His family was his number one priority and they always came first. He loved each one of his family members and his family knew he would always be the first one to be there regardless of the ask or the need. Whether this was a quick trip to Drayton Valley, teaching the grandkids to water ski, taking parts to the field, or picking his great-grandkids off the bus. Papa Alex made each moment count and always had a story to tell. To the world he may be one person, but to his family he was the world.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rena; 2 daughters Diane and Sandra (Bob); 4 Grandchildren Denise (Rick), Alex (Rachelle), Stacey (Mike) and Julie (Kevin); his 11 great- grandchildren Aaron, April, Sofia, Nathan, McKoy, Ben, Lucas, Olivia, Makenzie, Lilly and Austin; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Ron Stanger.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, December 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the Munson Community Hall.
If you would like to make a donation in his memory please consider the Drumheller Heart to Heart Society, Box 162, Drumheller, Alberta, T0J0Y0.

Mom/Nan loved life, each day was a gift and she lived it to the fullest. Her family was her proudest achievement.
Mom trained as an LPN at the Calgary General Hospital, she graduated in 1968. She met Dick and moved to Drumheller following her graduation. Mom epitomized the definition of a nurse, she brought professionalism, empathy, compassion, knowledge and skill to every patient. Nursing for mom was not a job, it was a calling and she loved every day, she took a position at the Drumheller General Hospital on the surgical and obstetrics unit.
Mom transferred from the hospital to Home Care where she remained employed. AHS honoured mom for her 50 years of service. They asked her to do a video which was filmed on October 25, 2019 following her third immunotherapy treatment for stage 4 bladder cancer.
Mom and dad were married on November 23, 1968. The Coalminer’s Daughter from the mountains became a farmer’s wife, they built a house in the same yard as our grandparents outside of Morrin in 1973, where they raised their 4 children. Mom became a huge part of the Sunbeam and Morrin communities. No one visited the farm without receiving mom’s amazing hospitality which always included a home cooked delicious meal.
Mom loved her family, her friends and travelling...one of her favorite destinations was with her daughters to their vacation home in Florida. She also loved Thunderhoof Ranch her and Dad bought outside of Wasa, BC. Mom loved her Brazilian Family, cruising in her convertible, golfing, going to the casino, Texas Hold’em with the ladies and the odd glass of Merlot.
Special thanks to Dr. Marty Duffy, Dr. Tina Cheng, Dr. Trevor Haines, Lance and the staff of Unit 82 and Dr. Jain.
