CAROLYNMADGE

MADGE, CAROLYN (nee Edler)

Madge, Carolyn, (nee Edler) of Hanna, Alberta – slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the age of 86 with her husband by her side. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Douglas W. Madge, of Hanna, Alberta. She leaves her children Verna (Fred Graham), Thelma (Lorne Ten Hove), Sheila (Tim Martin), Steven Madge (Helen Davidson), Doneta Madge (Tim Platten), and Wilfred Madge. She also leaves her grandchildren Bradley Graham (Glenda), Heather Graham, Cayla Martin, Shawn Martin (Britany – and soon to be great-grandson), Brianna Madge, Tyler Madge, Benjamin Platten, and Sophia Platten, as well as siblings David Edler, Mabel Edler, John Edler (Margaret), and Tom Edler (Beverly), and cousins, nephews and nieces. Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, a sister and brother-in-law, and a nephew. She was immensely proud of her family, and so were we of her. Carolyn was devoted to the Lord, and showed it by her cheerfulness despite life’s difficulties, demonstrating that she drew her strength from a deeper source. Carolyn was a woman of many talents. She sewed her children’s outfits, crocheted items, and later produced numerous beautiful quilts. She was also musical: besides playing hymns or classical pieces on the piano and organ, she sang duets with her husband on occasion. She lived a full life and worked hard for her family and friends, showing her love by sharing her delicious jams, jellies and baked goods. She also had a green thumb, growing a variety of indoor flowers and plants as well as tending to her thriving garden. Last, but not least, she loved reading books, and served for many years as librarian of the Rosebud Church and in the Marigold Library System in Rockyford. Carolyn received her degree in nursing, but after four months she traded her nursing career dream for that of being a full-time mother and wife, which she never regretted. However, her nursing skills were never wasted, as her children can testify. Later, as the children were leaving home, she worked as a teacher’s aide in several Hutterite colonies in the area. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Foothills Hospital in Calgary and Hanna Health Services for their care and support, especially over the past year. A Celebration of Carolyn’s life was held Monday, December 19, 2016, at the Rosebud Community Church, Rosebud, Alberta. Interment took place at the Rosebud Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Rosebud School of the Arts, Box 654, Rosebud, Alberta, T0J 2T0, or The Gideons, Box 3619, Guelph, Ontario, N1H 7A2 in her memory. PASCUT,
DENNIS LEE

May 6, 1944
- December 29, 2016

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Lee Pascut of Creston, BC, who passed away at Drumheller Health Centre on December 29, 2016 at the age of 72. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ellen Pascut (nee Jutras), and their three daughters: Karen Pascut (Dan) of Grande Prairie, AB, Deanna Chambers (Chris) and Michelle Williams (Tyler) of Drumheller, AB; and two sons: Steven Pascut of Ottawa, ON, and Ryan Pascut (Tammy) of Drumheller, AB. He leaves behind his nine beloved grandchildren: Luke, Autumn, Gianna, and André (Pascut); Tyson and Julia (Chambers); Brandon, Trevor, and Skyla (Williams). Dennis is also survived by his younger brother, David Pascut (Anne) of Creston, BC, nephews David Jr. (Louise) of Calgary, AB; Michael (Emelyn) of Hanna, AB and Greg of Creston, BC; Aunt Cosma Luvisotto with her family Terri and Aaron of Toronto, ON; and Aunt Joan Lewis of Sydney, BC. Predeceased are his parents Anthony and Pauline Pascut as well as his two brothers, Sydney and Richard. Dennis was loved by all family members including nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and their families, as well as numerous friends. Dennis was born on May 6, 1944 in Calgary and moved to Drumheller where he attended school. Dennis and Ruth were married on August 3, 1968 and raised their family in the Midland area surrounded by a supportive community. He was employed with the Drumheller Penitentiary for fifteen years, Nova Corporation for another fifteen years, and Paul Hamel Construction up until semi-retirement. Dennis is known to many as being highly skilled in carpentry and home improvements. One of his notable achievements is building the family home with his own father – the home in which Michelle, Tyler and family currently reside. Everyone has memories of Dennis painting rooms, pruning trees and performing general repairs. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix and sharing those experiences with Dennis created special bonds with the family members he worked with. He also shared these talents with his church – working selflessly behind the scenes. Friends and family will always remember Dennis as a hardworking individual who took pride in his work and methodically worked through each problem to find the best solution. Dennis was a loving father and husband who always made time for his family – there were annual camping trips to Radium, BC, or trips to the cabin in Emma Lake, SK. The children recall nights gathered around campfires, jigsaw puzzles, card games, and slideshows. Dennis had special relationships with all his kids and saw them through many milestones in their lives including graduations, weddings, moves to their own homes and the birth of all his grandchildren. In 2006 Dennis and Ruth retired in Creston, BC, where they made wonderful new friends and engaged with the faith community. They enjoyed this time with each other travelling to Medjugorje and Italy with their son Steven, and to New Brunswick to visit Tammy’s family. Dennis loved to visit with neighbours and everyone he met along the way, so Ruth became accustomed to Dennis coming home late for supper. Throughout the years they travelled back and forth to Drumheller, Grande Prairie, Prince Albert, and Ottawa to visit their family. He loved sharing his talents with his family and looked forward to tackling projects while visiting their homes. He will always be remembered by his grandchildren as “Nonu”. They have expressed their fondest memories as visiting “Nonu and Nan” and spending personal time with them. Highlights included their visits to Creston (especially at Goat River, Lockhart Beach and the fish pond), working on projects with Nonu, playing games, building Legos, going on walks, and saying their prayers with him. Dennis was a man of faith who strived to do God’s Will in every part of his life. Prayers were held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 7:00 pm at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 151 3rd Street West, Drumheller, AB. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with Father Burke Hoschka and Father Fernando Genogaling officiating. Dennis will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Calgary, AB, on Friday, January 6, 2017. Miraculously this happens to be the Feast Day of St. Brother André, which is very significant to Dennis as he received healing while visiting St. Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal. Donations may be made in Memory of Dennis Pascut to one of two chosen charities. In thanksgiving to the emergency responders and to the people of STARS who were all prepared to take Dennis to Calgary, and to Dr. Dayo, Dr. Graham, and all of the compassionate people at the hospital the night Dennis passed away, donations may be made online to STARS Air Ambulance at www.stars.ca. Donations may also be made through ANCOP (Answering the Cry of the Poor – www.ancopcanada.org) for the victims of Typhoon Nina (also known as Nock-ten) in the Philippines in thanks for our caring brothers and sisters from Couples for Christ. KINNIBURGH, Margaret

November 24, 1922 - January 13, 2017

After a series of complex health conditions, Margaret Millie (Nicoll) Kinniburgh succumbed (her word) to death on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Edith Cavell Care Centre in Lethbridge. Born a twin, November 24, 1922, she was very shortly predeceased by her sister, Catherine Frances. Her parents, Phoebe & Bob Nicoll homesteaded near Bindloss, and their little family was completed when Robert Francis joined them in 1925. Margaret’s premature birth, along with farming during the depression, gave her a strong will to survive and the ability to make something from almost nothing. This creativity (frugality) was expressed in knitting, sewing, cooking, gardening, calligraphy, building friendships, and believing in the possible. Her life-long friendship with two of her early teachers speaks of how greatly they inspired her; reading being that which would transport her when isolation and disabilities limited her life. For many years Margaret enjoyed a strong sisterhood through UCW and was always glad to participate in church choirs, social and community activities where she was often the driver for some of the “Older” ladies in the group. Margaret and David Kinniburgh were married August 18, 1954 and had four girls and nearly 54 years together. Another premature death came when their youngest, Heather Evelyn, died July 31, 1974, exactly 10 years after her Grandpa Carmen Kinniburgh. While Calgary, North Battleford, Airdrie, Delia, Irricana, Drumheller and Lethbridge were all places Margaret made her home, the prairie (as she referred to the Bindloss area) was where she was forever from, and gladly visited family there as long as she was able. Family ties to Ontario were also strong. Margaret took her first airplane trip to Toronto in 1950 in order to visit aunts, uncles and cousins in Stratford and Sarnia, and was sad that she’d never met her Nicoll grandparents prior to their deaths. Margaret & Dave made trips coast to coast to coast in Canada, and for many years travelled the triangle from Killam to Fort McMurray to Grande Prairie to visit the girls and their families – Catherine & Dale Sazwan (John & Courtney; Adam & Shawna); Janet & Bob Richardson (Dawn & Ryan; Doug); and Wendy & Les Hilliard (Tyler & Michelle; Sarah & Trudy; Jeff & Ashley). The girls are now living in Grande Prairie, Stettler, and Monarch, respectively; and the grandchildren are spread from Alberta to Newfoundland. Along with the immediate family, she is survived by brother and sister-in-law Jim & Kris Kinniburgh; and sisters-in-law Leona (Ling) Nicoll; Reenee Kinniburgh; and Eileen Kinniburgh; cousins, nephews, nieces, dear friends, peers and caregivers. Predeceased by her sister, daughter and husband, many others have gone before Margaret: her parents Bob & Phoebe (McDonald) Nicoll; in-laws Carmen & Edith (Hawkey) Kinniburgh; brother Francis Nicoll, and nephews Glen & Paul Nicoll; brother & sister-in-law Percy & Marj Kinniburgh. Margaret’s life and faith will be celebrated at Airdrie United Church, 216 1st Avenue, Airdrie, AB on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm. . Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.myalternatives.ca. Serving Airdrie and Surrounding Areas since 1997.(403) 216-5111 & (403) 912 – 0307.
